Over the last few weeks, we've noticed a slight uptick in issues with vendors soliciting members for business, posting advertising-esque messages, etc. We've heard you loud and clear that you don't want to feel like you will get spammed simply for asking a question about a specific type of service or issue.
Today, we've reminded vendors to refrain from this activity. While vendors certainly have great input on various issues from CMS systems to sales strategy, we have asked them to curtail discussion to only topics -- and not include any self promotion in any site messaging. This includes discussing your company's products, linking to your site, posting comments that go against what your competition is doing, etc. Anything intended to drive business to your company, directly or indirectly.
IF YOU ARE A VENDOR COMMENTING ON A TOPIC THAT REMOTELY RELATES TO YOUR PRODUCTS/SERVICES, PLEASE INDICATE SUCH DIRECTLY ON YOUR POST. This will eliminate much of the confusion when such issues arise.
We take this stance as the only way to ensure the community is not overloaded with spam issues. Likewise, any vendor that contacts a member of the site WITHOUT that member contacting them first to request information or posting something that specifically requests vendors contact them will be IMMEDIATELY removed without warning. Just because a member posts on a specific topic, does NOT mean they automatically wish to be inundated with messages from vendors in that category.
If you see such activity PLEASE report it via the "Report an Issue" or "Feedback" links on the bottom of all pages.
That certainly in no way stops our many users from using mediaPRO to find and contact a vendor directly via the 'send a message' feature and find out more about their products. We certainly want to encourage you to find and compare vendors and use mediaPRO to get an open, honest opinion of vendors from other mediaPRO members -- without feeling spammed.
Please continue to use the 'Feedback' link at the bottom of every page or contact us directly via our profile with new ideas, issues, concerns, questions, etc. This includes any messaging or posts you feel may cross a line -- advertising, spam or other inappropriate site activity.
We've had a great first few months and are looking forward to continuing to grow this Fall!
Thanks
Dave Iannone
