Have any of you used Quantcast, Compete, or similar services for competitive analysis?
I'm looking for more information on what exactly is offered under the registered (as opposed to free) versions of these services, and what methods they use to estimate the report data.
Shouldn't Google have a free service for this that integrates with GA?
Google doesn't offer a competitive service because any analytics company that will show your data to others is going to lose some business.
I've never understood why companies would share their data w/ Quantcast for the same reason, but I digress.
I've played with Paid versions of both and have been somewhat impressed, though I wouldn't pay for it myself, simply because I know how relatively inaccurate they are about my data.
That being said, I think they're both very directional. When they say I'm up or down, I almost always am. It's just the amount where they're way off.
