Florida's Star Banner newspaper today had a report alleging that Heather Lee, editor of Ocala (Florida) magazine, plagiarized from magazines and newspapers--including the Wall Street Journal, O: The Oprah magazine and Entertainment Weekly--at least 20 times over a four-year period.
Lee said the copying wasn't intentional (her response is summarized in our report here:
http://www.foliomag.com/2009/report-florida-editor-plagiarized-wsj-...), saying "producing 17 issues a year is a huge responsibility, especially with a limited staff and little to no freelancers," and that "I do my best to keep detailed notes."
I haven't seen the passages she allegedly ripped but being too busy is never an excuse for blatant plagiarism.
What do you think?
