I'm just wondering--my day job is working for a Subscription Fulfillment company, and I'm wondering what it is that you look for for your subscription fulfillment? Good service, good prices, good reports--I'm assuming that those are pretty much understood.

But, what else do you want or need to make handling your subscriptions better, stronger, more efficient? Online ordering? Web design? Hands-on access for you, the publisher? For the subscriber? What are the reasons that you either do or do not outsource your subscription handling?

I am obviously biased in the "outsourcing" direction, of course, but I'm curious as to what makes a publisher decide either to or not to hire somebody like us to handle their subscriptions. So--why not ask? (grin)

Hi Deb,

My colleague Bill Mickey and I just wrote about this topic in the Jan/Feb 09 issue of Audience Development magazine. Check it out : http://www.audiencedevelopment.com/2009/2009+fulfillment+service+bu...

While that article is more from the vendor and consultant perspective, here's one from the publisher's perspective:
