What tactics are you initiating that are driven by the downturn that you would have never done in any other context (for example, boosting frequency with digital editions or going "newsstand only")?
Or reduce subscription rates, or increase the number of years for subscription for much lesser rates and lock in customers for that many years; or let a celebrity endorse your magazine, etc. But all these are tried and tested methods.
There really is not much because the market trend is for people to cut down on surplus expenses and not subscribing to a magazine will hurt less on their pockets. So its really tough to come up with any new circulation tactics unless you network, market, advertise and this is where magazines or rather should now focus or increase their budgets for their products.
