Can anyone recommend a good site to post a design portfolio...I know I should have my own website, but I don't yet. I'm about to be on the job search and need a place to post my designs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You can then request API access and/or find another third-party site who provides widgets based on those sites allowing you to easily create embeddable galleries. Take a look at my profile here on MediaPRO and you'll see what I mean. Basically, we have a company website with all of our work, but then we also use a social network site (Flickr) to promote our work and improve search engine ranking.
Using a third-party site, we then created a photo gallery from Flickr to use across various social network sites.
Make sure to write all of your descriptions, photo names and tags fairly keyword intensive.
I always had my own website to promote my work to local businesses, but I also used to have a subscription to portfolios.com to search for freelance work from design & marketing companies (has since changed names: http://www.creativeshake.com/ )
The best thing about that site is that you can send emails with samples of your work to prospective clients.
I maybe too late, you may already have something by now. But if you are still looking out there, I have been using Behance Network (www.behance.net), and Creativehotlist. These are good websites easy to upload and organize portfolio.
coroflot.com gets a lot of mentions lately, and definitely seems easy enough to use. Only thing that weirds me out about it is all your competition is right there too -- seems to me that if you actually got a prospective client to click thru your link you wouldn't want them to have such easy options so near...I'd suggest a simple blog via blogger, etc with flicker-embedded pics and slideshows
