Agree with below comments and need to find the right digital edition for your publication and publishing model. Outside of the digital edition tool, it's also important to talk about digital delivery and how the digital edition will be presented from your website. Marketing, circulation, and access are all part of this discussion.

Hey Shirley- I would go way beyond technical services when you are looking for a solution. You need to start with the reason you are making your pub digital and what business you expect to make from it - ex. grow international, reduce costs, as well as who you are targeting: print readers or website visitors and ask they top 3 vendors you like how they feel thier service will be able to help.

Yes, Shirley.
Agree with Thish, do check out a few that know the business well and provide you with reliable service.

HI Shirley, I am sure you don't want to be bombarded by vendors each telling you their offering is the best. There are many differences in offerings, technology, and viewing experience. It is really a matter a checking out a few and measuring how they meet your expecations for what your specific strategy is. There are self-service offerings and full service providers (like us) - so it depends on your strategy. If you want to turn your digital version into a revenue generator, full service providers offer all of the pieces and have the know how! Be wary of pricing differences via add-0ns that are not included in the base pricing when comparing. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your specific needs. I am interested in finding out who makes the best, most efficient, cost-worthy program for viewing of e-magazine, at the same time a program that has effective ad integration.

Hello,

As this page is about digital editions, it would be great to see some interesting examples... If I may, I have two to begin!

http://e-edition.metro.co.uk/home.html - Metro

& http://www.waitrose.com/waitroselive/spring09.aspx - Waitrose

Interactivity, rich media, bespoke design, tailored marketing... whatever the reasoning, it would be good to see people share more favourites!

Regards,
Benjamin

Fred, it's not a comparison chart per se, but perhaps the list we've compiled could be a basis for the chart you proposed. http://blog.mygazines.com/?p=3

Josh, our co-founders funded the magazine on their own, using personal money for site development.
