Hello, I'm Arielle Emmett, a free lance writer and editor, former Detroit Free Press and Newsweek reporter, now a doctoral fellow at the University of Maryland College Park www.arielleemmett.com Have been a science and features writer and now interested in networking with people around the world to find out more about how social media is impacting your Web model and how you are building audience and advertising.
Also, since I free lance and consult to supplement my work at U Maryland, I'd like to know more about consulting opportunities out there in the magazine and New Media business. I've spent a great deal of time researching at various news sites what works -- and what doesn't -- on the Web.
Friends welcome!

Hello everyone,
I'm Zondra, my mom named me after The Muppets only Grunge character:
Seven years as an editor at Ebony magazine (an African-American monthly magazine) sharpened my chops for the first publication to ever pen a story on President-Elect Barack Obama.
I've assumed this role in these very difficult times for the newspaper industry, and I'm looking forward to brainstorming with other editors about growth, not just survival. In my night life, I'm write adult women's fiction. HAHAHA!!
Hello colleagues! My background in travel journalism led me to create www.peningtonpress.com. Will publishing survive our recession? Jobs are falling here in NYC, but Macy's window is still cheery. I'd like to reach out to other editors who freelance. Any stories?
Do you have a research department? Do the editors/writers research their own work? How is your operation responding to the economic crisis? Research support is often the first thing to be cut, because it's invisible. But the work still needs to get done. Does editorial quality suffer?
I'm the managing editor for Portland Family Magazine and Goodness. I'm looking forward to networking with other editors out there. I'm fascinated with how to tell unusual stories in a compelling fashion.
Hello group. This year, I celebrated 30 years in magazine publishing and I still love it. I started as an intern at the late, great SPORT Magazine in 1977, became an Editor-in-Chief at the National Hockey League in 1980 at the ripe old age of 24 and have been running magazines ever since. I have started my own magazine (New York Sports in 1983), created an award winning archaeology magazine for kids (DIG in 1999) and current am publisher and creative director of Rugby Magazine, in addition to overseeing a number of other projects for the company. I hope the current economic downturn doesn't kill too many magazines and newspapers and that print will thrive in the future. Looking forward to communicating with people in this forum. --Stephen Hanks
After 11 years in print journalism I'm now the editor-in-chief of a digital magazine. The fortunate luxury of this is that we can track our reader's behavior.
I'd like to see how other editors are using social media, micro-blogs, podcasts, rich media and flash to further engage readers.
I'm also really interested in hearing stories from other editors about lessons they've learned the hard way.
Hi there. I am editor-in-chief for TV Technology, a leading trade publication for the broadcast/video technology markets, with a U.S. circ. of 34,000. The magazine is owned by NewBay Media, which also owns such brands as Videography, DV, Government Video, Radio World, etc. I've been covering this beat for more than a decade, starting out as a writer/editor for the National Association of Broadcasters in 1995 and moving on to Phillips Business Information (now Access Intelligence) in 1998. In 1999, I launched digitalbroadcasting.com, one of more than 50 "verticals" for Verticalnet.com, an online B to B company. I joined TV Technology as editor in 2001.
I'm interested mainly in networking and making new acquaintances!
wow it would seem that I have the least amount of experience in editing here! I started my online magazine qwmagazine.co.uk back in January 2009 and have been the editor-in-chief ever since leading a team which has grown slightly over the last couple of months.
In the magazine we like to discuss politics, history, economy, science and film reviews.
