Kathy Sandler left me a comment about merging this group with Publishing Technology and I think that's a great idea. Everyone in this group is already a member of that group and it's similar content. Moving will also create one less place for you to look for "stuff."

Kathy'll talk to the site people to see if we can get these messages moved over and then at some point, this group will be deleted.

I'm interested in a conversation about what proper staffing levels are for an IT department in a publishing company.

We work in the most volatile area of technology - information - with seemingly limited resources.

How do others sell their staffing requirements to upper management?

How diverse is your technology infrastructure?

What is a proper ratio of help desk/tech support to user population?

Web sites have brought the environment to a 7-day 24x7 operational requirement. Is everyone just letting existing staff handle alerts round the clock?

Lots to discuss.
