Any Rock Music Fans Want to Assist With an Historically Important Memoir?

Hi,

I'm starting out as a self-publisher and have the honor and privilege of self-publishing the memoir of Marshall Lytle, an original member of Bill Haley and the Comets. Marshall plays on the original recording on 4/12/54 of "Rock Around The Clock", which, according to the Guiness Book of Records, is the all-time biggest selling single by a group. It's a fascinating story, with rare photos and home movies Marshall took of Bill Haley and the Comets we plan to put onto DVD and include with the book.

I'm seeking publishing contacts to help with the book, including some minimal financial backing. National media coverage is a distinct possiblility given the Comets status as rock and roll's first supergroup and "The First Band of Rock and Roll." I'm editing the manuscript. It's a great read and an historically important, fascinating memoir for popular music lovers.

Hi, you need to get in touch with Dan Orloff, dorloff@orloffwilliams.com. Just take my word for it.

Michael - Rock Around the Clock was not a hit in 1954.

The only reason it took off later in 1955 was that it was played during the movie The Blackboard Jungle.

I know y'all know that, but the main thing is (and this is what will help you) is that it ended up a hit all over the world -- the problem being, here in the UK it started the Teddy Boy movement and they tore up all the cinemas where it was shown. The teenagers were waking up after keeping quiet during the long second world war...

I am sure if you have Marshall Lytle's memoir and can borrow his string bass, put some footage of the riots that happened here in the UK on your DVD, you will get on the British national TV stations on a whirlewind tour to promote your book. We have a different system here - in London you can visit every TV and Radio station, multiple programs - news, features, music, and will be seen and heard in every home in the UK over and over again, minutes at a time.

If you can put a small musical tribute group together, tell everyone the group will bring that original bass (but of course keep it safe to one side), you'll get on the Jonathan Ross and Jules Holland show on TV and all the radio stations - they are all national, not local. 10 million listeners and viewers each time you appear. The book deal will follow just as soon as you start getting interest from the studios.

Well done!
