People Management in Tough Times
Since people are our biggest cost (and most important resource), how are media owners looking at their people as we navigate these tough times and budget for 2009? Are you looking at staff reductions, raise freezes, etc?

Freeze is the word for the day. While on one side it stinks as the cost of living continues to increase, on the other, I feel most are happy just to be working. On numerous occasions, I have seen this in action and heard this from peoples comments.
We are all trying to weather the storm.

Yeah - very much in "wait and see" mode. I would classify our business as "so far so good" 2008 through Q1 2009 - but we watch the numbers very closely. The goal is to keep everyone working, so I would be more likely to do some across the board trimming than to make big cuts. Knock everybody off one day a week rather than to cut a person completely out.
