My group has been tasked with converting our booklet style instruction manuals to map style. In short, it's been a nightmare to lay these things out and review because of the large format and crazy page orientation. Is there software that would be able to convert the booklet style layout into a map as the last step?
How large are your booklets? Do you want to view the pages on the map in full size or in a reduced size? I am trying to think of an inexpensive solution that would not be too labor intensive.
If they are not too large you could create single page PDFs through a script or plugin. You could then bring these PDFs into a single large page and print out the single page.
What software are you using to create your manuals.
Paul, thanks. Anywhere from 12 to 48 pages. The type is either 6 or 7 pts at 100% so viewing it any smaller would be difficult. The tech pubs group is using InDesign on PCs. We knew it would be tricky to convert to map style but it is taking much longer than we anticipated. We are also having to borrow a plotter from another dept to print it out.
Here is a $40 plugin that might be just what you need. I just read about it today in InDesign magazine. It will create PDFs of your pages and then put the PDFs into a new InDesign document.
