Hello,
I work for a commercial printing company but am heavily involved with all of our publishers and what they are doing. I get a lot of insight from our pool of publishers. I hope to use this platform to gain additional knowledge and to share new ideas from my resources. I am also a marketing consultant for a major digital magazine company in the US. Complimenting printed material with an online edition has many benefits. I am encouraged by this new platform FOLIO has introduced and feel like it is another great use of technology for publishers.

Thank you, Sherry, if for only putting this discussion back towards the top. My apologies for not feeling the need to comment earlier.

My career has gone back and forth between media and technology, some kind of art production and IT. I've worked in advertising (television), textbook and web publishing, and now magazines.

There are a few at my job who tend to throw the word "guru" at me, though I'm too humble to let it stick. I'm enough of a geek that I can fly though menus (and know which ones to look under) that it impresses some.

I do recognize, however, that there are true masters out there, at whose feet I would be grateful to learn. I only know what I know because enough experienced people have been kind enough to share what they've learned through years of experience.

I'm on an endless quest to learn more - and if I can share any of what I've learned along the way, so much the better.

My profile states my background, starting in 1965 in printing, moving to publishing in 1978, and first documented PC user starting in 1981.

Have rights to www.PubTech.Net for which the appropriate person can be a business partner. Otherwise I need tech courses in Dreamweaver in Flash which I can start taking in March. Also, as primarily a production guy I have high respect for graphic artists, as a skill and a natural ability. If interested contact me @ bert.langford@yahoo.com.

Hi,

I work with idio, based in London UK. I'm interested in digital publishing that works - blending knowledge of the social web, personalization/targeting, premium advertising, and multi-channel content delivery. Interested to learn from everyone here.

Aloha everyone! I produce a variety of magazines and guides that are mostly Hawaii destination-specific. Most are distributed locally, by hand, so they can afford to be heavier. I do a lot in golf: write, sell, edit, photography, InDesign, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. You could say I am a one-man shop. I was doing basic html sites in 1995 for the hotels on Maui, so I was around the web early on. I hail from NY, where I worked in the magazine and book publishing business during the '80s. Hawaii is a small market for this type of work, so I hope to stay more in touch with trends and developments here at mediapro, as well as to cultivate new friends and contacts along the way.... A hui ho!
