I worked for 15 years for CMP/United Business Media and spent ten of them in what is now the TechInsights Division. I was in a layoff in June, unfortunately. Currently, I am working part-time as a contractor for Xilinx Semi as a media buyer/account coordinator. I miss media and I'm trying to get a feel as much as one can for where it's going. I hope you don't mind me joining your group. I'm on the buying end at the moment but I'm very familiar with the selling side of the media world. I have run the gambit in my media career from sales assistant to account executive to sr. online campaign mgr. and I still believe in media despite the fact it's suffering so greatly right now. It will adapt and change and through that transition it will survive.

What a great idea for a group! I certainly am a woman, though I skirt the edges of publishing. My day job is for a subscription fulfillment company (whose services, by the way, I heartily recommend), but I also do freelance writing. I just know more about circulation than I do about publishing, is all, but if you're doing one, you need the other!

Hey Ladies - very glad to join this group - I am Associate Director of Online Development at Advantage Business Media (formerly Reed New Products Division). Very quickly I got to help build metrics, best practices, online marketing partnerships, SEO initiatives, SEM campaigns, eMarketing agenda, rate cards, SOPs, reporting, etc. for 17 websites. Great company - and exciting to see traffic growing.

Thanks for creating this group. I'm with Churm Media in Newport Beach, CA. We publish 5 titles and are in the process of trying to integrate them with Web sites. Also trying to cut expenses on the production end of our print books. Curious if anyone out there buys content that as reprints for use in their magazines and how that is working out.
