It has been almost a year and most of you have not thought to ask what does your readership want. It will do no good to go Digital and have no one read your publication. we started offering Digital two years ago on all nine of our magazines to dat...
I'm new to the audience development arena but I did attend the recent conference in Chicago which was a great help.
It seems to me that there are at least two big wins achieved through using social media. First, I found by listening to various spe...
Seem to be a little late on this topic here but can see some people are slating digital e.g. Oleg (who clearly is looking at some pretty bad solutions), others seem to have a good idea and some of you seem to be a little confused about the true de...
I'd be grateful for any samples and/or advice on a survey to be sent to non-subscribers. Recommended length of survey, incentives to complete the survey, sample questions to ask non-subscribers, etc.
Thanks in advance!!
Attended my first Audience Development Conference this week. What an eye opener. Not coming from a circulation background and "playing" with audience development concepts it was fresh territory for me to hear what the pros had to say.
Now the challenge is to distill all of this new information into a strategy and action plan for moving forward.
Onward!!

Just attended my first Folio show. I was pleased overall with the professionalism of the show, the speakers, keynotes and topics at the breakout sessions.
Watch the Digital Editions area for more comments. One of my goals was to learn more about the technology and uses of Digital Editions. Overall I think there is a place for Digital Editions in our portfolio of publishing assets but not where I originally expected.

Change in focus on our publishing system pursuit. We have decided to concentrate on the advertising side. Currently working on defining our requirements. This is an interesting task since many of the "requirements" have to do with features that we don't currently have so this requires a fair amount of forward thinking.
It's good to stretch now and then!
Thanks, Fred for the invite. This looks like a great source of information and contacts for me. Good luck in your advertising project. Let's talk soon. -p
Currently in pursuit of a replacement for our 20+ year old SII newspaper publishing front end. It is unlikely I will find both the advertising and editorial solution from the same vendor this time.
One of my goals is to find a vendor with a highly integrated editorial and web publishing environment. I want to see our existing home grown web tools replaced with something more flexible, user friendly and functional.
On the advertising side we're looking for a system to bring the Internet and self service models into play.
Social tools are also important. We're definitely still on a learning curve in that area and need to really focus on a plan on how to use and make best use of these tools and trends.
Commercial Use Limitations: Use of any content features (blogs, forums, messaging, etc) for direct self-promotion, spamming, etc. will result in account termination. Profiles are for individuals only at this time, not companies. Profile headshots should not include company logos. Publishing/Media companies (non vendors) may create groups for their employees. Vendors see this post for more information.
