As editor of monthly news magazine The Hospitalist, assigned and edited stories tracking developments in hospital medicine. Edited highly clinical copy, including columns about medical legal issues and hospital medicine pharmaceuticals. Maintained $250,000 editorial budget and secured reduced print and online photo-use rates from vendors for all department publications. Supervised more than a dozen free-lance writers and one designer. Helped edit, evaluate other publications in new Custom Ventures department. Helped launch group’s first high-profile blog, “Wachter’s World.” Supervised group’s editorial assistant.
July 2006-April 2007 | Group editor, Dental Tribune America. New York City. Supervised editorial operations for weekly industry newspaper and four monthly specialty newspapers. Managed staff of five managing editors and a dozen-plus regular contributors. Edited, executed and redesigned weekly publication for general practitioners, coordinating with production staff in Leipzig, Germany. Managed editorial projects including on-site daily newspapers at industry events. Routinely interacted with and consulted leading figures in the dental industry, including Gordon Christensen, Sascha Jovanovic and Roger Levin.
