I teach journalism at Michigan State, one class per semester. I have taught Journalism History and Writing and Reporting II. I also tend to bring plots to do distributed journalism with students as the reporters to whatever class I teach. First up is the living history of journalism. Trust me, its going to be great. But first I have to get my grades done.

I work with the newsroom and the online department to help plan how to best tell stories both online and in print, plan and implement software to support advanced web journalism and help to coordinate print and online resources to bring multimedia, Flash and database projects in on deadline. Includes identifying elements of a story that can be broadened online and working as part of a team that designs and implements database applications and Flash projects that tie maps, pictures, audio, video, data and text together to allow readers to explore the details of a story online in ways they could not in a newspaper.

Produced stories and related multimedia from one or more sections of the paper, then laid out section front pages on the web site, on deadline. Primarily worked with the business, foreign and sports desks at The Times and with the International Herald Tribune home page. Production included writing summaries and photo captions, updating section fronts and blogs and preparing related multimedia including pictures, slideshows, audio slideshows and videos.

Also served as a technical resource for editorial, helping to refine the process of publishing content on the Internet, and served as a development resource, tester, troubleshooter, and liaison between editorial and the software development group during the Times' recent web redesign.
