Work Experience
Southern Breeze/Compass Marketing Gulf Shores, AL
Editor, 2006 – present
Southern Breeze is a glossy, very high-end travel and lifestyle publication that covers the Gulf Coast. Also serve as Editor/Editorial Director for Compass Marketing’s 40+ other annual publications in the travel arena including the Alabama Vacation Guide, Mississippi Travel Guide, Coast Living, Emerald Coast Vacation Guide, and many more.
Entertainment Design/Lighting Dimensions/SRO/Live Design New York, NY
Managing Editor, 2004 – 2006
These publications were geared to designers, suppliers, and other live design professionals. A thorough knowledge of the industry as well as the technical components of production was required. Loving theatre didn’t hurt.
Live Design was born when Entertainment Design, SRO, and Lighting Dimensions merged into a single monthly magazine.
The New York Enterprise Report New York, NY
Managing Editor, 2003 – 2004
Served as founding Managing Editor for this startup that began life as a website, which eventually went to a traditional format. It is still going strong.
Facilities Design & Management New York, NY
Managing Editor, 2001 – 2003
Started at FDM—a monthly trade publication about commercial buildings, facilities management, and real estate—two months prior to 9/11. Hit the ground running to report and write about the attacks. I was rewarded with a 2003 Jesse H. Neal Award for Outstanding Business Journalism.
Reputation Management New York, NY
Editor, 2000 -- 2001
Took over the reigns of this well respected monthly public relations journal and spearheaded a totally new redesign, updating the publication’s staid look into a more contemporary, glossy feel.
Lighting Design & Application New York, NY
Editor, 1996 – 2000
Named Editor after eight months as Associate Editor at this monthly trade magazine published by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. My goal was to turn it into more of a design magazine, which I did, resulting in a 25% minimum advertising revenue increase per issue.
International Medical News Group Rockville, MD
Staff Reporter, 1995 – 1996
Wrote for a chain of physician newspapers which required a fairly in depth understanding of medical issues in a variety of disciplines.
Society of Nuclear Medicine New York, NY

Served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology and the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, considered “the Cadillac of medical journals.” This was where I earned my stripes in project management and especially copy editing and proofreading because patient’s lives depended on accuracy.
