Personal Interests
After earning a BA in English from Keene State College, Patrice worked for a variety of periodical publications and obtained a certificate in Graphic Design with applied training in Desktop Publishing, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and typography. With 27 years in the publishing industry, including experience working on a wide variety of periodicals: including technical computer periodicals; scholarly journals; lifestyle; equestrian; and community newsletters; and various kinds of books: including text books; cookbooks (The Gourmet Cookbook); popular fiction and non-fiction; and software documentation. Patrice’s work has encompassed editorial (copy writing, proofreading, and editing), production (graphic design and desktop publishing), circulation, distribution and management. She has also published community newsletters such as Common Threads Newsletter of Harrisville, NH; regional equestrian newsletters and a newsletter for the New Hampshire Horse Council. Her company, PanDesign, has completed work for 15 lifestyle/relocation magazines for communities from Maine to the Gold Coast of Florida. These upscale publications provide a visual feast filled with first-rate photography and artwork, and have a good balance of interesting articles providing historical and community profile and demographic information.
A horse lover from childhood, Patrice has been involved the equine industry for several years. She was involved in the start-up phases of the Northeast Equine Journal helping to develop the publication from a small regional publication expanding its reach to all of the northeast states. While serving on the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Horse Council her achievements include the enactment of Equine Liability Legislation which has helped to protect the equine industry in New Hampshire. She also spearheaded an equine rescue group to save a herd of 30 Akhal-Teke horses from starvation in Kaliningrad, Russia during the 1998 economic fall in Russia. The farm there now serves the community by offering free therapeutic riding lessons for handicapped children.
Her entrepreneurial pursuits involved starting a retail business—The Chestnut Mare—which sold quality English tack and riding apparel through a storefront located in New Hampshire and a national mail order business.
Her familiarity with the real estate industry began by working in her family’s residential construction business and later as a licensed Realtor. Patrice has helped many real estate agencies develop a unique marketing strategy combining a high-quality print publication to distribute to their clients, augmented by a completely searchable, complementary web site featuring the members of their exclusive concierge of product and service providers for a 24/7 online presence.
Patrice’s love for old houses and restoration has led to the renovation of a number of houses and a historical restoration of a 1775 cape. She currently lives in an 18th century colonial house with her husband, 2 horses and a Russian Blue cat named Koshka. She sometimes has moments of envisioning her home beautifully restored but that is for another time.
