Hi Everyone!
I have dreamed for so long about owning and publishing my own magazine. It's been an enigma trying to figure out how to make this dream become a reality and finding this awesome forum to interact with people of similar interest is GREAT! I cannot wait to soak up every bit and morsel of information I can find so that I make smart decisions for my magazine, which by the way will be an ethnic lifestyle/business hybrid. Right now, I am mulling over the audience development aspect--how do I organically get an audience going without buying a list? Is social media a way to do that? Should I start off online and then move to print (print is my ultimate goal) or wait until I am fully ready to launch a print edition? How can I get advertisers without a proven track record? You know...all the newbie/novice questions. I've been a managing editor for a medical journal and for internal company publications, but this is a different animal altogether. Any advice is welcome!!!

Yay! I am glad my blog made the features list for this week. When I received the email notification, I was happy that my blog might be read by other passionate folks like me. Still in my bed when I got the message, I started making a mental list of various issues and topics in publishing that I want to write about. I also realized since I created the blog, then I need to also nurture it; so, I'll be setting up a schedule and sticking to it. Again, I'm excited. I hope this isn't the novelty of the moment taking over. I pray I always feel as passionate about publishing as I do in the current moment. Looking forward to your comments...
