EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

July 2008-present | Art director, The Week magazine, New York, N.Y. (550,000 nationwide circulation). Oversee page design, templates, styles. Help supervise two illustrators, photo editor and two copy editors. Play key role in integrating magazine’s global content manage system.

2007-present | Writer, In Tune Monthly magazine. Contribute profiles of notable working musicians to national magazine tailored to young learning musicians. Interviews have included players associated with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Joe Jackson and “American Idol.”

April 2007-present | Editor, Wiley-Blackwell, Hoboken, N.J. As editor of monthly news magazine The Hospitalist, assigned and edited stories tracking developments in hospital medicine, the fastest-growing medical specialty. Supervised more than a dozen free-lance writers and one designer. Managed print and online editorial initiatives and editorial budget. Helped edit, evaluate other publications in new Custom Ventures department. Helped launch group’s first high-profile blog, “Wachter’s World.” Supervised group’s editorial assistant.

July 2006-April 2007 | Group editor, Dental Tribune America, New York City. Supervised editorial operations for weekly industry newspaper and four monthly specialty newspapers. Managed staff of five managing editors and a dozen-plus regular contributors. Edited, executed and redesigned weekly publication for general practitioners, coordinating with production staff in Leipzig, Germany. Managed editorial projects including on-site daily newspapers at industry events.

November 2005-June 2006 | Free-lance medical editor. Performed various editing duties for New Jersey firms Medco, Bradley Pharmaceuticals and Emron.

February 1995-October 2005 | AME/News, The Journal News, White Plains, N.Y. (150,000 daily/170,000 Sunday). Helped supervise 30-person night news operation. Edited and designed front-page and wire news through five editions (and 13 editions prior to consolidation of Westchester County titles). Evaluated, mentored and scheduled design and editing staff. Worked with metro editors, reporters, photo and art staff to establish excellence in breaking news and enterprise packages.

October 1993-February 1995 | Front-page editor, The Jersey Journal, Jersey City, N.J. (60,000 daily). Chose content for, edited and designed three-zone front page and inside pages.

April 1990-September 1993 | Copy/wire editor and page designer, Florida Today, Melbourne, Fla. (70,000 daily/90,000 Sunday). Edited and designed wire and local news pages and special section fronts.
