You missed the Democratic Convention in '68 then! HaHa! I used to live in Rogers park in the '80s. You're right. The economic climate HAS changed.

A lot of the increase in revenue was just hard work. In 1999 I took over a dying publication that was a community mainstay since 1935. Unfortunately, the Labor community in the area (it's been referred to as a rust belt) was crushed by the end of auto production in 1988 by Chrysler. The city has been an auto producing city since the Jeffery bicycle factory which turned into Nash Motors.

Anyway, revenues increased by hard work, strategic planning and community awareness. We still maintain the numbers but with the economy and the declining interest in newspapers in general it's NOT an easy task.
