Biography for Coire D. Nichols Houston
Coire Denise Nichols Houston, has two decades of sales, event marketing, promotions and production experience. She attended Eastern Michigan and Wayne State Universities majoring in television production and journalism. While in school, Nichols Houston obtained an internship at Barden Cablevision. There she co-produced local origination programs, "City Highlights," and "Potpourri." During her internship at Barden, she was recruited and hired as public relations assistant for Margo E. Williams & Associates, PR firm. After working as a staffer and freelancer for Margo E. Williams & Associates for two years, she accepted the position of on-line producer for the Second Chance Foundation for the television program "Lifestyles," which aired on the PBS affiliate, WTVS Channel 56.
Still in school and actively pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, in 1992 she received the position as Production Assistant at the NBC affiliate, WDIV, channel 4. At WDIV, she worked in the evening, in the media library, scheduling and setting-up programming for all satellite recordings and syndicated programming for airing, and performed teleprompter operations for the 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 11:00 PM news, the "Night Beat."
Nichols resigned from WDIV in 1994, and pursued a career in Financial Services. Always having a yearning to return to what she fondly refers to as "My heart," in 2002 she received the position of city manager for Rolling Out Urbanstyle Weekly running the Detroit bureau of the magazine. Upon leaving Rolling Out in the spring of 2004, she was hired as the special projects and advertising coordinator with Connect With Detroit Magazine.
In May of 2004, upon doing extensive research she decided to start her own company, CDN Communications, LLC, which is the publisher of a free bi-monthly magazine, Fuzion Magazine Detroit, for the African American community in Detroit and the metropolitan areas. Fuzion Magazine launched in October 2004. Due to the economy, Fuzion was forced to go into a hiatus in 2006 but is proud with re-launching of Fuzion Magazine On-Line, and the premier of "FuzionVizion" On-Line television station. Both are scheduled to premier in October 2008.
Coire Nichols Houston is married and the mother of three. Nichols Houston also is the current Media Relations/Publicist for the Freedom Institute which hosts the annual NAACP’s Freedom Weekend. Contact Information about CDN, Communications, LLC, Fuzion Magazine and FuzionVizion can be made by phone, or email at:
Thanks for stopping by my page. I would love to share more with you about my company and learn more about yours... I checked out some of your links and registered as a user on the Ubangi Graphics site.
Looks like you are involved in many positive ventures... Congratualtions!!
Just to give a brief about WeOurs Enterprises... we are a marketing/management consulting firm. We have a magazine... WeOurs Magazine... and a small (very small:)) pr firm as subsidiaries...
What exactly would you like to know? You can feel free to call of email me...
Also, I would love to get contact information for Urban Voice Talent... forgive me if that is not the correct name. I am in the process of completing a demo to shop for voice overs, would appreciate learning more...
I just joined this group and another member let me know you were asking about digital edition solutions. I am with Texterity, one of the leading digital edition vendors in the industry. I would be happy to share some information about us (I see some of our competitors have already chimed in!) and how we differ from the others.
Also, I would like to learn more about your goals/needs so can we chat sometime tomorrow? Please email me at rludwick@texterity.com and we'll set up a time.
I am with Texterity, one of the leading digital edition providers in the industry. I heard you were reaching out yesterday to find a good digital edition and see a couple of our competitors have already come back to you. I would like to learn more about your needs/goals to see if we may be a good fit. Are you available to talk some time tomorrow?
I also received your note about digital magazine services. Here's some random thoughts:
1) Service, relative to price. There are many lower-cost do-it-yourself solutions. If you have the time and a little technical expertise, that's a good route. If you lack either, a more full service option will be better in the end.
2) Your business model. If you're looking to be advertising driven, you'll want a solution that offers advertisers a lot of sponsorship options. As important, though, the solution needs to give you the metrics the advertisers will want to see: views, time spent, click-throughs, etc.
3) Here's a link to a great webinar about digital edition revenue generation. The speaker from Hearst has info. about his digital-only magazine, which was designed for screen-only viewing. The speaker from Graduate Prospects did what you're looking to do: replacing a print magazine w/ a digital magazine.
In a nutshell, we don't have any upfront costs and most of our magazine clients pay $1000-$1500 per issue, depending on customizations. However, we add a lot of tools to make it easier for you to sell into the digital magazine (Don't take my word for it, though - watch the webinar. :) ).
Commercial Use Limitations: Use of any content features (blogs, forums, messaging, etc) for direct self-promotion, spamming, etc. will result in account termination. Profiles are for individuals only at this time, not companies. Profile headshots should not include company logos. Publishing/Media companies (non vendors) may create groups for their employees. Vendors see this post for more information.
